Mo fun with WoFun Napoleonics
First thoughts and first attempts
Hi all, following @avernos show and tell of Wofuns ancients in a recent XlBS I thought I would do my own now the black box has landed.
So on opening, once reading my letter, ignoring my pledge reward that was separate the time, I saw something like image 1 below.
I have also done a close up of the spruce (that happens to be the reward spruce), face on an Lloyd (images 2 and 3)
So using that spruce and the bases it came with, ignoring an internet full of references from their website I “made” my first file in colour unit for more years than I want to admit… the dog was thrilled for me…
So initial thoughts.
I am pleased – about 1hr, not overly focused and not actually watching the clock and a unit was “done” I need jostle the lads about to find how best to set them up but they were mostly in situ.
The figs are more “brittle” than I was expecting- this is my experience (or lack thereof) with the material. One lad did take the hit from my clumsiness, but am hoping a squeeze of poly cement will hold.
On the wider box the cannon in mdf are interesting- built one, was a bit finicky but it’s there. The slot on the barrel piece to fix the wheels is “square” on which means the gun carriage floats currently. Again might just be me but I will play more later and write up.
First however I need to get this packed away before the missus gets home, make some more Dwarves for a saga game I have on Wednesday next, and probably set the house up for a baby…
Gerry showed me the 18mm ancients he got and there really nice. Bit of colour on the edges make them look even better
What and open a paint pot!! I was hoping to have this army playable by Christmas this year, not 2027!!
You are right, they would look better – I might come back and do it later, its just would you go black, or match the colour on the “main” sides (red where it would join the jacket, cream/buff/grey for the trousers etc)?
Gerry thought and I agree you could get away using sharpie to do the edges
Just all in black?
