Day 16 of my journey into the world of 1938 A Very British Civil War and today it is the turn of the leadership of the Socialists. The Socialists and the Left Wing in general is made up of various different political groups and organisations that dont always get along and have been known to even fight against each other regardless of the opposing forces but in general they form a unified force.

These groups tend to come in three flavours, the Union base workers or labourers committees, tend to be Labour Party members but there are also groups centres around communists views and even anarchist views.

The next are based around politician organisations like the Labour party, the Independent Labour Party, the Communist Part of Great Britain and these made up the bulk of the Left Wing groups and work with the other groups to fight the Royalists and the British Union of Fascists.

The last big group and there are hundreds of smaller groups is the People’s Assault Columns. These are made up of the former members of the International Brigade who fought in the Spanish Civil War and carry there fight against Fascism here. They are the most convicted, battling for the left against any comers to bring fore a Peoples’ Republic.

This chap is PAC General Winterburn, a ex Labour Politician, who fought in the Great War and joined the ranks of the PAC to bring an end to the war and an end to the Monarchy. He leads the East Mids Peoples Assault Column and protects the East Mids Socialist League cities and industrial centres.
