As part of my push to get out of a bad bout of depression and the accompanying hobby funk, I decided to sort through the Hobby Horde last week. Amongst the many unfinished projects, abandoned armies and things I was oh so excited about but somehow didn’t quite get round to, I found a piece of my gaming archeology. My battered, but well loved copy of Games Workshop’s How To Make Wargaming Terrain.

Was this a message from the Gaming Gods? A sign that as part of my social reintegration I had to connect to the ways of old, the hobby of the past. A commitment to the Cult? This sounds like we’re in need of a project!

The Terrain Thursday Project

The aim of the project is fairly simple. Get back to basics by working through the entire book making as many of the projects as I have use for and employing as many of the techniques as I can. A side goal is to do this by spending as little money as possible – it feels more in keeping with the idea of homemade to scavenge and scrounge to get things done.

I’ll probably work on different bits throughout the week but I want to keep regular updates as part of my project to try and keep myself motivated and because I like alliteration, Terrain Thursdays it is.
