PanzerKaput's Mortal Gods

I am going to chronicle my battles against various opponents for Mortal Gods. These are not going to be battle reports as such but more a record of battles fought, rememberable actions in the battle and won won or lost.

This is the first in the series and it is a small skirmish between to equal forces, same troops on either same of Spartans and their allies versus Athenians and there allies in the Peloponnesian Wars.

This is the Battle of Ano Pefkeneas.

1 unit of Pelastai (javelin armed medium infantry)

1 unit of Sphenonetai (slingers)

1 unit of Toxotai (archers)

Lochagos (leader) (heavy), Georgios

Promachos (hero) (medium), Meliton

1 unit of Experienced Hoplites (heavy infantry)

1 unit of Hoplites (heavy infantry)

1 unit of Experienced Peripoloi (medium infantry)

2 units of Peripoloi (medium infantry)

1 unit of Pelastai (javelin armed medium infantry)

1 unit of Sphenonetai (slingers)

1 unit of Toxotai (archers)

The two forces lined up and the Athenians crashed into the Spartan line and started to first push and then break the Spartan line with Spartan casualties mounting and then units breaking leaving holes in the Spartan line.

The Spartan Lochagos Alkibiades seeing this, marched forward in front of his Lochos and shattered a unit of Athenian Hoplites and took his chance to attack the Athenian Lochagos Georgios. As the pair of them fought the battle raged around them and the Athenian Georgios, struck at Alkibiades, again and again until finally his spear tip found his way from the Spartans armour and pieced his helmet and killed Alkibiades.

With the death of there Lochagos the Spartans left the field with Alkibiades carried on his shield and victory went to the Athenians.
