Magnetising the army
Storage and transportation of my army was a problem I never got solved in my Warhammer Fantasy days. After studying several options, I went for magnetising the entire army.
Movement trays
Boxes
Now I needed boxes to store and transport my elves (and other 9th Age armies). I bought these very cheap ones: they are 15 cm high. This is high enough for spearman, battle standard bearers, knights who hold their lance upright and monsters. Even a High Elf dragon fits in the box.
Now my existing army is ready for The 9th Age. The next step is to add new units.
@umbra did you have to cut out the squares to magnetize the bases or did they come pre cut? Ive done the same with some of my fantasy armies but cutting out all the squares got tiresome very quickly! I also found they werent very strong for those metal character models.
Love the High Elves, got an old school HE army in progress that i just need an excuse to start painting!
Hi Civilcourage,
I bought them pre-cut from https://magnetic-tabletop.com/en/. They have them in every size.
My bases are filled with putty (polystyrene glue). This gives the glue of the magnets something to attach to. They do come loose on occasion, but overal I’m happy with them.
For a new dwarf army I’m starting, I will just glue ordinary small magnets underneath the base. This should be enough. (Let’s hope :-))
