@vapian a huge thank to Chris and the Battlefront team. Today I received the lovely, lovely German D-Day book. The guys kindly sent it out to me for this project thread which wouldn’t be possible without the support of the other guys taking part, the FoW Battlefront SGL and OTT bringing it to our community.

It’s a lovely book and very easy to navigate and plan using. It does mean a tweak to my forces as I am going to tailor it more to represent a Lehr Panzer Division Company for the Normandy campaign.

I will keep everything I have painted but will drop the Nebelwerfers to add in a second Armoured Panzergrenadier Platoon.

The force will then consist of :

Panzer IV HQ Platoon (2) 11pts

Panzer IV Platoon (3) 16pts

StuG Platoon (3) 17pts

Tiger Platoon (2) 24pts

8.8cm Heavy AA Platoon (2) 6pts

Armoured Panzer Grenadier Platoon (5) inc. Panzerfaust and Panzerschreck (1) 13pts

Armoured Panzer Grenadier Platoon (5) inc. Panzerfaust and Panzerschreck (1) 13pts

100 points

This fits in perfectly with the write up in the book for a Panzer Lehr Division force.

A mobile armoured force makes up the majority with a strong showing of anti armour and a little anti air/artillery which I imagine as being already at the front line or has been dug in as defensive part of the force. Also I love the 8.8cm guns, I love the tank Hunter ones even more but wanted the classic look ones.

The Panzergrenadier were known for being well equipped hence the Panzerfaust/schreck mix and the armoured 251’s were known the be equipped to the Lehr divisions Panzer Companies.

All in all couldn’t be happier. I now need to pick up another Armoured  Panzergrenadier Platoon and I can see me grabbing the new preorder dice and Lehr markers and tokens.

Have a great weekend everyone. I am hoping to have some Tigers finished and to start in on my last 25 points which is now two Armoured Panzergrenadier Platoons gulp!

Looks good, smells good, is good. Now I just have to make sure I don't kiss it too much or it will go soggy!Looks good, smells good, is good. Now I just have to make sure I don't kiss it too much or it will go soggy!

Make sure it is just a kiss and nothing else that can make it soggy 🙂
