Flames of War Germans
My Tank Camo 3 Stages
Hey guys,
Thought this might be useful to anyone wanting to do the same camo pattern as I have used for my force. It contains the three colours that are core to the mid-late war Germans but the patterning I have made up.
Having read a fair bit on it, it seems that tank platoon commanders would often use colours as they saw fit to best camoflauge their tanks. Mainly from aircraft which is why I chose this pattern to break up the form.
Colours used are :-
Ushabti Bone base
Agrax Earthshade shade
Castellan Green base
Doombull Brown layer
Agrax Earthshade shade (second wash)
Ushabti Bone drybrush
This leaves a final camo that looks more weathered and sun bleached with the final drybrush highlighting small imperfections and making the armour look a little rougher and more realistic in my opinion.
Hope this is useful to someone at some point and for an inage gallery of the process see below.
The first three images show the application of the basic camo colours on a StuG. It’s nice and easy to do.
The last three show the final process which is just a wash and drybrush with the left being just the base camo applied, the centre with the wash applied and the right with the final drybrush carried out.
Going to try the Ushabti Bone drybrush on mine when I get to that stage – I like how how it weathers and details your camo at the same time.
@robert Sweet, fingers crossed it works for you too buddy 😀
thanks Gaz 🙂
@buggeroff no worries buddy. Hope it helps out
