Flesh-Eater Courts: The Order of the Black Moth
Adventures in Contrast Paint
I started by priming five Crypt Ghouls with Grey Seer, one of the two new primers meant specifically to work with Contrast paints.
I painted three of them with Shyish Purple (left), one with Shyish Purple and some water (middle), and one with just some regular old Druchii Violet shade.
On the one hand, I find the dark purple really satisfying. On the other, you lose so much detail to the dark purple. I’m going to experiment with a few other options.
I’ve finished up one of the first three. I made “finished up” take as little effort as possible – no washes, no dry-brushing, nothing.
I used Mournfang Brown for the hair on their backs, the bones they’re carrying and have driven through them, and for the ground. Some Mephiston Red for the blood in the mouth. The rag around their waists is Thousand Sons Blue – I need some kind of fun, bright colour. The snow on the base is Valhallan Blizzard.
And I used Retributor Armour for the eyes.
I’ve picked up some different paints to try for the next bunch.
