Flames of War Germans
Time to take some paint to my tanks
So this morning I decided to try a colour test using one of the bazooka skirts. The colours I used were:
Basecoat – Ushabti Bone
Wash – Agrax Earthshade
Green – Warboss Green – Post the bazooka skirt trial run this has been changed to Castellan Green
Brown – Doombull Brown
I picked one of the 1944 colour schemes from the Colours of War book namely the disc pattern camouflage from the Ardennes offensive and below are some photos of how it turned out.
To be honest the green wasn’t right so I have switched to Castellan Green. Also, I am not really feeling the pattern style so I am going to go back a little to the paint schemes used in 1943 featuring three core colours which were often applied by the crews themselves to best suit their area of operation. These varied considerably based on paint available, terrain, what was available to use to paint the tank itself to the crews and what the commanders believed would work best.
Hope you have a good weekend everyone and please those who are also taking part in the slow grow league join us when you get chance.
