After being busy for a few weeks and lacking motivation to crack on with my projects I sat down this week and got my melta squad squared away. All painted and transferred up, awaiting a varnish spray at the weekend. I’ve tried to give a bit more of a random mix on the armour pads and some of the trim colour to represent what I think the reality for squads during the heresy would be. It also adds some colour to the models!

I’ve made it just a nine man squad to leave the option for a character or elite choice to join them in their transport. In the armoured spearhead RoW I’ll run all squads etc must start inside a vehicle, so I can’t have more models that I have transport capacity for.

I visited Warhammer World a couple of weeks ago and picked up a MkIIb Land Raider for this squads dedicated transport. I’d like to start work on that next, but I also picked up an old school landspeeder so I’m keen to get that model built as it looks really good. I’m also part way through the second tactical squad which I’m running with pistols and chainswords to give a close combat element.

The transfers look great. Can’t wait to see the Raider, Speeder and second squad.

Are you going to add some wasteland style tufts to the bases?

I like the blue spot colour, its different to the typical torquise you see on plasma guns and not a colour you see on Iron Warriors often. If you ever did traitors to add to the army or compliment the collection you could give them a different spot colour to mark them out differently.

I also love the barrel colour shift on the meltagun.
