REBELS AND REDCOATS-War in the colonies
Battle of Chattertons Hill Report
Chatterton Hill is the second scenario in the Rebellion supplement for Balck powder. It see’s the British out flanking Washingtons army at New York forcing the rebels to abandon Manhattan Island. The Rebels hold a hill that if the British can take will allow them to bombard the rest of the rebel army. The game began with the rebels deployed waiting for the Brits to come into play. Some failed command rolls kept the best of the crown forces off the table at the start of the game. The rebels tried to take advantage of this by crossing the river into the Crowns deployment zone. As the continental army tried to cross the bridge the militia halted at the ford as Redcoats came into the area and a fire fight started. The Brits splashed into the ford and were met by militia and a large fight began mid stream. Mean while the Dragoons and light infantry finally made it on to the table clearing the bridge of rebels. The Dragoons swept on into the fleeing enemy leaving them exposed and having to fall back. German Jaegers exchanged fire over the river and managed to see off two units with some superb marksmanship. Meanwhile at the ford the Brits reinforced by Hessians saw off the militia and it wasnt long before the whole rebel line began to retire. The quuickest game of Blackpowder I’ve ever had coming in just over two hours.
