Entry 3: Librarian Basecoats

After batch painting a bunch of grey marines I was kind of bored and wanted to paint the Librarian. Since Space Marine Librarians traditionally wear blue power armour it seemed like the right time; he was a breath of fresh air to do, and broke up how monotonous the drybrushing got toward the end, but moreso how disheartening following the guide was and ultimately leaving me with a ‘Sprue Grey’ model.

NOTE: I deviated, and used Mordian Blue (out of production paint I have plenty of pots of) instead of Kantor blue (which I did not own at the time of doing this).

Here are the basecoats:

Mechanicus Standard Grey on the knee pad and book, Balthasar Gold on the hilt and necklace

Steel Legion Drab on the Gloves, holster, parchment, pages and belt over the book

Leadelcher on the pistol, gilding on the book, vents on the shoulder pad and keys

Incubi Darkness on the sword and chest power cables, Mechanicus standard grey on the foot rock, and a 50/50 mix of blue ink and water on the shoulder pad.
