Noggin's Random Minis
The Harry Potter Troll
So as with all my minis, I start with an airbrush. I use stynilrez primer, a mix of black, grey and white to create some light and shade. Then add the main colour, very thinned down, through an airbrush. This means that I keep the zenithal effect of the primers.
For the Troll, I used Scale 75 Field Green, adding yellow to lighten it for the various highlights, especially the stomach.
Then I take our the hairy brush.
I started with the leather clothing. Using various shades of brown from black brown to a light tan colour, creating depth with some deep shadows. I highlighted the stitching with an off white so it is easily visible.
For his club, I simply washed over the entire thing with a thinned down coat of scale 75 walnut. The light and shade of the zenithal priming takes care of the rest.
Then I went back to the skin, adding shade with a darker green/grey mix, picking out details like the veins and the various odd lumps all over him.
I also added a little depth to the club, and shaded the flagstones on the base too.
In the film, the troll appears in the bathroom and smashes up the wooden stalls, so to finish off, I added some broken wooden pieces on the base. I used a mix of brown and green inks to ‘dye’ the wood
