Playing with contrast
So last night I had a chance to finally play around with GW’s contrast paints. I already had a bit of an idea of how I would use these in the future but wanted to give them a fair shake. I wanted to try out the gw method with one change and how I thought I would use them. So 2 super mutant hound were my test subjects. Both primed german red brown (Vallejo). After that they were drybushed with wraithbone. This was a light drybush until the most raised surfaces were 100% wraithbone. After this I applied the contrast paint plaguebearer flesh in different ways. Hound 1 was the one thick coat method cleaning up the pooling at the feet as it dried. Hound 2 was airbrushed a couple coats unthinned. Method 1 is not bad. This will get non painters, beginners, and people on crunch time a nicely painted model on the table and quick. Method 2 is how I will be using these paints in moving forward. They make great “ghost tints” and glazes. Mind that I would not call either of these models finished but for 10 minutes of work that is a great start on either method.
