Kings of War Empire of Dust Army Build
Archer unit colour scheme test mini
So not been so good this last day or two and decided to cheer myself up with a bit of hobby. With my archers unit built and a lot of the core colours on them, I decided to test my colour scheme on one of the minis. I am a big believer in this as too often I have done batch painting only to find I didn’t like them in the end but had invested too much time into them to change.
The initial idea was to do a purple and black but as I put more of the colours on I really liked a more grey contrast.
Colours used
Leather
Mournfang Brown (base) – Agrax Earthsahde (wash) – Skrag Brown (layer) – Skrag Brown with a little White Scar (highlight)
Metals
Leadbelcher (base) – Nuln Oil (wash) – Leadbelcher (layer) – Stormhost Silver (highlight)
Uniform
Naggaroth Night (base) – Xereus Purple (layer) – Genestealer Purple (layer) – Genestealer Purple with a mix of White Scar (highlight)
Dawnstone (base) – Nuln Oil just in the recesses/shadows (wash) – Dawnstone (layer) – Dawnstone with a mix of White Scar (highlight)
Really pleased with how it has turned out and the changes during the process proved to me yet again that a test mini is always a good way to go. Now I need to apply this to the rest of the unit and decide on the stone colour for the bases and movement trays.
Have a good day everyone.
Hope you are feeling better soon. I do like that purple and I think they will be very striking when shown amass.
Thanks, @Robert should be alright as I am feeling well enough to be back in work tomorrow. Going to vary the colour between different regiments, the plan is blue instead of purple on the warriors with shields and turquoise on the spearmen. Will then use these as core colours to do up the large infantry units varying between the three for each model.
.
