Not just a small gap issue, a large gap issue!

Hello everyone, so last night was pretty frustrating for me. I had finished painting up the majority of the Rollo Viking model and came to putting it together. It didn’t even come close as both the angle and surfaces of the arms and weapon section to the main model sat with a considerable gap. So much so I couldn’t even bridge it with blue tac, I tried different angles and pitched the arms to try and get the barest of contacts and managed to find one I might just be able to hold together with an edge of super glue.

Thankfully I did manage to get a pose I liked that would allow me to at least tack it in place while I carried out some filling in. At that point, I then used my super glue gel to form the initial lattice of bond and filler for the gaps I had. This is one of the reasons I really like the super glue gels. Having squeezed in a clump or two I then used a toothpick to manipulate it to where I wanted it to be and let it dry which essentially filled the majority of the gap in. This morning with most of the gap now filled I then went and grabbed my liquid green stuff and fill in the remaining gaps while at the same time gave form to blend the areas together. In the photos, you can get a real sense of how large the gaps were on the model. Happy to say it seems to have all worked. I applied a layer of liquid green stuff then let it dry for 30-40 minutes then did another layer until I got it to the stage it has a natural look and hopefully once painted you won’t be able to tell at all. Now to have a tinker with the handle wood colours and the heads of the weapons as I am not happy with them.

Have a great weekend everyone.
