Now as much as i loved this model since it was announced i’ve never felt confident enough to paint her. Finally i cracked at Salute and bought her. Time to face my fears!

I wanted to try and replicate the skin tone on the box art so thought i’d try to blur the line between the light and dark green with a sponge technique. I basically stippled the green to break up the straight line.

Using the sponge i stippled the darker green (army green) over the line between the two shades. Seemed to work well!

  1. Feeling brave now I decided to try and replicate the red tips to the tentacles. First i brushed it on then stippled with the sponge then blended with a drybrush.

Even though this model is taxing me at every stage now im starting to get in the zone with it. I even dug out an old pot of rust effect to detail the bracelets. You’ll probably never even notice once it’s finished but it can’t hurt! Also I found the original non legendary model to colour match the staff.

now unfortunately this is where i got a  bit carried away and when applying the usual 50/50 soft tone, wash medium mix i got a bit carried away over washed to heavily. Rookie mistake easily made when you get excited about a project. I did try to over paint the heaviest part of the wash but it didn’t really make it any better so I decided to quit whilst ahead. Truthfully if i was to paint this model again I would paint it in two halves and be much more careful with the wash! LESSON LEARNT!
