Choosing & Painting a Space Marine Chapter
To sneak or not to sneak?
Raptors are a sensible marine, camouflage, hit and run and long range shooting. They fit the logic part of my brain but there’s just something a little too bland for me with the colour. If I choose to paint some more marines I need to like the background. This leads me to another shortlisted chapter – crimson fists.
I have some WIP of my test, I’m already liking painting blue more. ? Spending time trying to get some darker, shinier blue armour. I’m finding it helpful to add a little wash into my shade/highlight colours (blue or black army painter washes ) seems to help me smooth the transition without having to add too much water. Almost done half so that’s half to go.
As someone who has painted and collected more space marines than is sensible/healthy over the past 26yrs, I’ll offer a few bits of advice: 1 – Pick an army you like the background of, one that really appeals and you think you can happily dig further into. Then think why it appeals to you and are you happy that you can build the army that you want to play around that theme?
