Fantasy Wargames
Springing into Action
Despite rumours to the contrary I am still here. My much loved Empire have been taking a back seat these past few months. A combination of work, other hobby projects, family and commission work have all combined (in a transformers combiner-bot style) to distract me from progress with the Forces of Franz. Despite that I have been feeling the old world Warhammer vibe, in no small part due to @evilstu fantastic Warhammer Fantasy Revisited project, whose work is flipping awesome, much respect. Would love to see the two forces facing off against each other one day. I had a unit of bunch of models, who I finished off last year, but never got around to photographing, so made some time this week and got some pictures of them. First up a good sized unit of Greatswords:
And a good old fashioned Warrior Priest to spread the good word of Sigmar:
And finally, these last 2 weeks I have managed to crack on with the Demigryph Knights, who were an utter joy to paint and I am really happy with how they came out. Generally speaking most of my models are primed in black and then zenithed grey and white, then brush painted using the GW range of paints. I am tempted to do a much more detailed step by step for the next model that I have coming up, but at the speed I paint that might be a while!
I am really enjoying slowly building up my Old World Empire. I have a game of KoW set up and will try and get some pictures of that to put up here, so you can see the entire force on the battlefield. Please drop me a comment with any questions or feedback, until next time!
@halfmileduck they look amazing, really enjoying all the Warhammer fantasy attention on this site at the moment. I may have to finally paint the greatswords i have languishing in a drawer somewhere.
Thank you so much! I am also loving the Warhammer Fantasy, plus there are loads of systems at the moment that you can try out with the models. I look forward to seeing your Greatswords when you get around to them!
Very nice painting here!
Have you given 9th age a try? Either way, I’m really liking how ‘classic’ fantasy is getting a shot in the arm from Erehwon et al being published.
Subscribed to the project 🙂
Thank you. You know I haven’t tried 9th Age, although I did see the Kickstarter a while back which looked great. One of the guys in my local group has mentioned it though, is it worth a try?
I am most definitely going to try Erehwon, I love Beyond the Gates of Antares and Erehwon has a similar d10 mechanic if I recall correctly?
Thanks for the follow!
I’m a huge fan of 9th age. I suggest giving it a few games.
Everything is free online at the-ninth-age.com
The good thing about 9th age/erehwon is that if you base for t9a, erehwon is still perfectly fine with it.
Amazing work, love the vibrant colours you’ve went with!
Thanks man, I really appreciate the compliment. Hope you are looking forward to your imminent Bones arrival!
@halfmileduck amazing work as always. Flattered beyond words that a painter of your calibre is following along with my humble blog. Cheers 🙂
Dude, your stuff is badass, I would love to get the two armies on a tabletop some day!
