Star Trek Free Print&Play
Game Manual
Here is the rules for the game. I’m happy were the rules are in general but I might still tinker with the details. Soon I will publish the dashboards for the ships and the tokens once I’m finished making some corrections.
Epic idea @grbour ! Thanks very much for posting! Used to have an old Kenderson class destroyer, and then a Northampton class frigate in the old FASA STSTCS game from waaaay back in the day.
Will there be an upload with some of the ship statistics as interpreted by your game?
Thank you. I hope the next posting will have the info that you wanted. It is just some information until I get every thing else done. At least for the few ship I’m working with, I don’t want to add to many because this is still in the works.
Looks a great game, many thanks for the download.
I would have the mechanic for cloaked ships of hidden movement
Can you explain more your idea, I’m not sure I understand. I am interested in other interesting ways to deal with cloaked ships.
You have a direct copy of the playing area on a dry board, the player with the cloaked ship moves his ship via hidden movement. The Federation player on each turn has a chance to detect the cloaked ship. To make cloaking a risk (as per the movies and series) a cloaked ship can’t have its shields active while cloaked and can’t fire while cloaked either.
That idea would be great for a hunting type scenario, when I do start working and them. You did give me the idea to use ping tokens to hide the location of the ship which would mask the real ships movements, similar to a submarine.
For cloaked ships I think its quite easy to start over complicating things. From memory of Stat Trek once shields and weapons and shields are activated then the cloak is lost. So give as you recreating a battle it might b an idea to allow cloaked ships to set up on board and allow and ambush turn ( free move and shot). After this ships could not recloak during the game as that would be cowardly or something
Thank you for your suggestion. Your suggestion for using cloaking to ambush is a good idea. I do have in the rules that once a cloaked ship fires it will automatically decloaks except for Klingon ship that use the Chang’s Order to remain cloaked after firing provided that ship succeeds in its test roll. During testing I noticed that most players, including me, will cloak on turn one then once they fire they do not recloak for the rest of the game, which is very thematic to the honourable Klingons but not to the sneaky Romulans. So I gave lots… Read more »
