Wight King on foot to lead the mass of skeletons. Nothing much special about this model - cloak was done with Corax white undercoat, nihilakh oxide wash all over, coelia greenshade wash in the recesses, then dry brushed with ulthuan grey to bring back the highlights - then glazed 1-3 layers with waywatcher green until happy with the green glow. Edge highlight with ulthuan grey to bring back the bright peaks.Wight King on foot to lead the mass of skeletons. Some infantry – managed to get 40 skeletons painted up in this similar way, various bronze coloured gear, or iron coloured gear.  A bit messy in some places, not necessarily to reflect the battle damage and grime that is a resurrected body… but rather after the long slog of 40 skeletons, I did another 20 grave guard – this time using chaos warriors I had lying around… and repurposed a few stormcast externals.  The grave guard models from the official line don’t really stand out in my mind – lacks the elite feel. The chaos warriors and storm cast infantry are more beefy looking. Perfect to supplement with the box of skulls.  (It come with orc skulls too… but I have not got any fully armoured orruks to proxy as dead orruks yet…).

One day I hope to have an assortment of different skeletons to form a large display.  But no more standard skeletons… fed up with those (same feeling I’m getting with the Night Haunt chainrasps!)

Rust effect is simply grunge it up with typhus corrosion, then a very light drybrush of Ryza rust, and tone it down with a bit of agrax if the orange is too bright.  I have seen tutorials that use layer paints or browns and shades to get the rust effect really nice.  I’ve done it the lazy way.
