The best accessory I wanted to use for this costume was a Blade Runner blaster, or Shadowrun smart-link equivalent. I could have just looked for a Deckard or “Joe” replica, heck I wanted to. But I chose to go with “What’s the biggest thing I fit in this jacket?” line of thinking.

Would a smaller 2019 Special draw attention away from the costume with those LED’s? I could not bring myself to modify a replica, so a watergun it was!

Using a Trigun water pistol, I filled the sucker with craft sand and did some painting with a gold paint marker.

-NOTE: Paint markers are incredibly permanent, do not paint in a rush.. like I did!

I wanted some electronics on the revolver itself, and I also wanted it to not look too real, because hey, time’s are changed a lot since I was a kiddo and I prefer not to frighten people in that way.

So, a laser pointer was sprayed black, then attached to the side of the Revolver, using a bit of foam pvc to make the rail [the black part]. Attention: Foam PVC melts with super glue, I have yet to test it with other adhesives because I’m rushing to get a %100 ready costume for Halloween.

The idea with pointer was accessibility whilst I was holding it, but not on all the time to control laser pointer in the eye syndrome.

The “Smart Link” was made using a 3.5mm audio cable that looked the part and cutting off one end and attaching a magnet, just like on the other end of the laser pointer. To ensure the magnet stayed on the aluminum, I wrapped some small copper wire around the attachment point, then bam – super glue!

Now if only I can install a micro-actuator that rotates the yellow pin badge at the appropriate signal?
