Phoenix
I finally finished the Phoenix, and I’m quite happy with the result. I think this project has taken me the longest so far, but I really wanted the feathers to stand out. I’m actually also quite pleased with how the wood came out. It’s been a long journey and I’ve learned a lot. But I’m also kinda glad it’s finally over.
…though I might just come back one day to add some more depth to those feathers and the beard. The beard is the thing I like the least. I have a tendency to rush things on big projects, once I near the end. It’s annoying.
I’ve used following paints. All is Scale75 unless otherwise noted:
Blue feathers: Violet, Mediterranean Blue, Carribean Blue
Red feathers: Blood red, Mars Orange, Sol Yellow
* For all feathers I used a line of Graphene Grey down the middle. To add highlights, I added some Creme White to the colors, except for Blood Red. I brighten that one with Light Skin.
Mouth: Orcish Dermis, Carroburg Crimson (GW) + Agrax Earthshade (GW), Orcish Dermis + Creme White
Mouth Face: Arabian Shadow: Basic Flesh, Light Skin, very watered down Agrax Earthshade (GW) + Carroburg Crimson (GW)
Phoenix Skin: Arabian Shadow: Ressurection Flesh, Harvester Flesh, Moonray Flesh
Fur: Graphene Grey, Nuln Oil (GW), Graphite, Birch
Hands: Arabian Shadow, Basic Flesh, Light Skin, Druchii Violet (GW) watered down heavily
Beard: Graphite, Nuln Oil (GW), White Sands
Wood: SS Camo Medium Brown, SS Camo Medium Green, SS Dunkelgelb 44, Agrax Earthshade (GW), SS Camo Ocher Brown
Sand: Flayed One Flesh (GW), Seraphim Sepia (GW), Pallid Wych Flesh (GW)
Stone: Stormvermin Fur (GW), Nuln Oil (GW), Pallid Wych Flesh (GW)
Awesome. Just awesome.
Thank you *beams*
That looks really awesome!
Thank you Manda <3
the work on the feathers is top quality. I am glad I stumbled upon this project, lots of inspiring stuff. Well done!
Thanks so much 🙂 Think that figure took me 3 months to paint 😀 And then I dropped him on the floor. Like, literally just after putting the brush down, going “Yes! I’m done!”. Luckily he glued together again real easy.
