Good choice to use the washers as supplemental bases. I’ve had to do the same with Pulp Figures from Bob Murch. If you’re going to do sand bases pick up a tub of coarse pumice gel from Golden. It’s a texture additive for acrylics that you can color as you want. If you don’t want to glue sand or use GW’s technical paint for texture, paying an arm and a leg in doing so, try that. I’ve used it for grass, rough soil and sand by just by changing the base color and then dry brushing. I hope it works… Read more »
Thanks very much for the basing tips, @horati0nosebl0wer ! 😀
I think as mentioned elsewhere on this site it was the underrated O’Connor that first put them to use
Incredibly underrated. 😀
Nice start, the LRDG Chevy has to be one of the iconic images of the desert war. The LRDG had some pretty wild colour schemes as well, it’s worth investing some Google Image time into some research for something a bit different.
If you haven’t already, check out the book ‘Providence Their Guide’ by David Lloyd Owen, the story of the founding and operations of the LRDG, it’s a fantastic narrative history.
Oh definitely, @damon – I just have a priming base down now (drying) – the actual color work I hope to start this afternoon. I don’t know how detailed I will have these done before the boot camp, I want to be able to ship all this out to the studio BEFORE the boot camp (no way I’m bringing all this metal on a plane).
