Typhus - Converted from a Lord of Contagion

Before the typhus model came out I had already started researching leaders for my army. As I said in the project description I was given a whole half of the Dark Imperium box set for nothing. This gave me the courage and opportunity to do some conversion work and create a Typhus model from a LoC model.

I removed the axe and replaced it with a whittled piece if sprue. I used the axe head on a Blightlord terminator later on – love of recycling 🙂

I removed the pile of Nurglings under the LoC’s left boot and replaced it with a pile of stone. I used one of the faces of the Nurglings to go on Typhus’ shoulder pad when I removed one of the spikes.

I used two Nurgling-ish looking little gremlins from a Mantic Games Goblin sprue to be the Nurglings seen on Typhus’ base. I tried to add a narrative on the base and went for a fart joke, because it seemed to work with the two models’ poses really well.

The pipes on his back, that seemed to be a feature on older incarnations of the character and art, were made from biro ink tube pieces and old metal precision applicator tube from some poly cement.

After some time painting I was happy with the more old school rusted cream coloured armour and basing to match the rest of my force.

Then months later I was looking at some bits I had removed from the plague marines for variety’s sake and kept for future projects and decided that a big fly would suit Typhus down to the ground – given his use of the ‘Destroyer Hive’ in game it seemed to fit.
