Adventures in Airbrushing
A Russian Leman Russ
As requested my Leman Russ. It has a forgeworld turret, purely so it looks a bit different but its the colours I like with this one.
They are Russian Air Force SU-27 colours.
The gallery shows the project from primed and pre-shaded through to final weathering.
This one is a little different, in that it uses enamel paints, specifically MRP paints from Mr Paint These are very easy to spray with an airbrush, as they are pre-thinned, and need only 7-10 psi pressure. They self level to an extent too so you just spray thin coats and they gradually build up colour in a smooth finish.
However, enamel paints have downsides, they stink, and it cannot be understated how much they smell. If you spray these indoors, your entire home will smell of them. They are also chemical based, and for both of these reasons, should only be used if you have an extractor, or can spray outside with a respirator on.
After spraying, I added weathering with enamels from Mig, they are great weathering tools to have, very easy to use.
I have a couple more finished models to put up from my recent work, a star wars legion air speeder and a couple of mantics new vehicles, but now the new site is up my aim is to post my in progress stuff as i go to show how I do my airbrushing not just on vehicles, but to quickly paint squads too.
