The Process So Far...

So, the project began with me working on this selection of sponges, cutting and plucking them (snapped up from Wilkinsons in the UK).

The Process So Far...

I then went on to mount each of the rocks, all in different sizes on shapes, on bases which would help with stability and also provide me with a way to accurately show the size of the various pieces.

The Process So Far...

I know that I should have probably either painted these, or done something to make the process of blackening them easier…or just gone with a dark grey primer (which I will probably do next time).

But, this is the way the rocks came out with a couple of minutes of drybrushing to get successive different layers working.

The Process So Far...

The final look for the rocks has come out alright I think and the additional hit of white has made it so that they don’t look quite so volcanic.

If anyone has any ideas as to what I should do next/what I could change, make sure to let me know!

Cool Ben, nice to see my video tutorial was easily followed. For anyone looking for the episode of Hobby Lab about sponge rocks here’s a link: https://www.beastsofwar.com/featured/hobby-lab-flat-pack-travel-rock/

Did you have to do anything to make them sturdy enough to support the weight of a miniature?

nope most minis are just fine. somthing like a big warjack might need a big bit to stand on.
