Perry Launch Their American Civil War Battle In A Box
October 8, 2015 by brennon
Perry Miniatures have revealed one of their newest ventures which is the Battle In A Box. The first of these sets will be for the American Civil War pitting North against South. It also has 'Firepower' rules by Alessio Cavatore in the box too...
Everything within the set is going to be plastic including the terrain. Additionally there will be a pair of generals which are multi-part kits for each side. As well as being quite a good deal it's also seemingly a perfect way to get yourself into an entirely new historical period without having to dive into a massive rulebook too.
Will you be looking at adding this to your collection?

Cool might have to drop a few hints for Xmas
The Perry ACW stuff is great. I’m tempted to pick this up to get the new stuff and really bulk out my collection. My only disappointment is the hats are separate and can be a hassle to clip and trim. Once glued in place they look good though. There’s plenty of options too so you can do ragtag Rebs or fancy pants Union or a mix of the two.
ACW is basically Napoleonics for those of us who can’t paint those detailed fancy uniforms!
Yup. Count me in for this one for Xmas as well!
Not something I’d pick up as I am not into that period myself, but that is an excellent deal and as it is the perry twins, the miniatures will be be world class quality. Very impressed.
On their Facebook page they suggested that if this one sells well they might create some for other periods…so might see a Napoleonic one soon.
I would like one set in North Africa WW2 🙂
That would be great, but they only have the 2 plastic sets for WW2 North Africa so far. They had everything in the ACW box except the generals already available in plastic. My guess would be a Napoleonic set or quite likely an Agincourt set once the french plastics come out. There are multiple plastic sets in each line including buildings that they could include.
As well as playing the rules the set comes with, I advise taking the opportunity to pick up the superb Longstreet from Sam Mustafa.
Very interesting.
Look at all the stuff you get!
The ACW is something that I have only recently started to get interested in and I could see myself picking up this set to add to the collection but I probably would be more interested in Napoleonics and definitely War of the Roses if they released those periods.
I just listened to the audio version of Waterloo by Bernard Cornwell and I am definitely keen to get a regiment or two of Napoleonics now.
very nice, I call for a BoW bootcamp!
Friday evening: Assembling and painting
Saturday: Assembling and painting
Sunday: Try and squeeze a game in
:p
Stick an Iron Clad in the set and we might get John to do a unboxing, floating tanks.
Funny thing is we both wrote down what we might like lists yesterday as Christmas will soon be upon us as much as we deny its progress and this came third on Victorias and also on my list’s, result it is a definite.
very impressed with Perry’s ACW stuff, yeah, sprues getting a little bit old now, looking a bit soft compared to the newer items coming out but solid kits all the same. Converted some for Napoleonics, Turkish New Model Army for the Siege of Acre using ACW infantry with heads from the Zouves. Not perfect by any means but I think I’m one of the few people in the area to field the Ottomans which is nice, adds a bit of flavour 🙂
An ACW boot camp would be the perfect opportunity for a U.S. event. We could even have it somewhere near the actual historic sights! I’d not only sign up but volunteer to help out.
This will be very tempting. The last thing I need is another army but I do love ACW 🙂
