Perry & History Works Launch A New Range Of Historical Pre-Paints
December 11, 2017 by dracs
Perry Miniatures have teamed up with the American company History Works to launch a new range of pre-painted 28mm historical miniatures. The first models in this new range are for the American Civil War.
The models are 28mm scale metal miniatures, painted to an acceptable tabletop standard. The command sets come with a sheet of flags, allowing you to decide which of the different regiments you wish to field.
There is also a set of pre-painted, pre-assembled terrain, including some iconic structures from the Battle of Gettysburg.
Pre-paints like these are perfect for players who just want to focus more on the gaming side of the hobby, and provide a good, accessible spring-board for those who wish to improve upon the pre-paints. The release of this new range is a great idea, allowing players to very quickly get started in recreating the historical conflicts that interest them.
What are your thoughts on pre-paints, like these?

I normally loath pre-paints (The D&D ones in particular hold a “special” place in my heart ) These actually look perfectly fine, but it is the Perrys and they don’t do “slap-dash” . Nice work
Those are some actually nice looking re-paints as far as those that are not Star Wars starships for X-Wing miniatures games go. Still not as good as ones painted by hobbyist would be.
Agreed but as someone who’s painted hundreds of both Confederate and Union troops you do want to just beat your head against the wall as you paint the hundredth belt buckle.
The Arch looks fantastic. Just thinking of painting each of those bricks makes me dizzy
Big thumbs up for the buildings, as for the painted mini’s, well… I’m a crap painter, be the first to admit it, but the Perry kits are great and you’d be surprised as to the results you can get just using the army painter method. That being said, if it gets more people to take the plunge into historical gaming I’m all for it.
The big thing is the cost, £20 for three painted figures is way too much for me.
@dracs There’s a gaming side to the hobby?
nice is that the west point gate the troops are leaving out?
Great quality in both miniatures and buildings. I love Perry and have bought hundreds of their models. The price might be fair for the work being put into it but consumers might be put off by it…
