Charge Out With The Perry’s Bavarian Chevauxlegers!
January 6, 2015 by brennon
A whole range of Bavarian cavalry are now available from Perry Miniatures including those Charging, with Shouldered Swords, and Galloping in the era of 1809 and 1812...
Once again some great looking mounted miniatures from the Perry twins and another nudge in the right direction to start looking at fighting in this era on the tabletop. I'm starting to like the look of the miniatures more and even the threat of having to paint so many horses and plenty of uniforms doesn't put me off overly!
What do you think of these Bavarians?
Fabulous… as always.
Gott im himmel!!
Those are utterly splendid.
Now I want some cheese…
What sort of rule set would you lot recommend for a Napoleonic newbie? Is black powder good? Also can you run games at skirmish level too at this period? My knowledge of this era pretty much comes from Sharpe and Mount and blade napoleon online hahah
I personally use Man at War scaled up to 28mm. Sharpes Practice is a good little skirmish game for the period as well as Muskets and Tomahawks with a little bit of tweaking. It’ s a really fun period to game because you can really get into the history and feel of the period
Thanks ! I’m going to have to look into those. Nice one mate.
Epic miniatures. You always get such great, vibrant color out of these Napoleonics that is missing from more modern armies.
So these are part of the Bavarian Army that sided with Napoleon (Confederation of the Rhine)? I know they got chewed up pretty badly in Russia in 1812, and eventually switched to join the Allies in 1814. But whatever side, I believe these guys were in the thick of the Napoleonic Wars all the way.
pretty sure the battered remnants ended up forming a rear echelon reserve for the Austrians – after Leipzig the Bavarian’s did what they could to harass the retreating French army in return for guarantees of Bavaria’s independence (they did swap sides pretty late in the game haha)
I don’t think I’ve ever seen the Perrys do a bad miniature. If only I was into Historical gaming.
No reason why you cant use them for fantasy as well
I recently used my Perry American Civil War troops in a Local Tourney. I did terribly but had so much fun with them.
