John, you can come round to my place, bring an airbrush with you…..
Perfect timing on these airbrush videos for me since I just got one recently 🙂
One word of caution that you forgot to mention (and that I learned the hard way) is not to turn the brush too much to either side or totally upside down while the needle is removed. Otherwise, you’ll be on your hands and knees searching for the y-shaped, springy thing (in a shag carpet, of course)that sits behind the button/lever and is normally held in place by the needle slid through it.
THANKS….
Three tips here i haven’t heard before, including one in the comments so far.
Hi John, great video, I am new to Airbrushing well I would say Nervous and not that confident. I bought the Airbrush at the beginning of this year and I have used it. I dont know if I am spraying properly. I have sprayed a few models, how far away does the Airbrush have to be to the model? I know using the spray cans they have to be 12″ away but I need a bit of confidence building I think to use the Airbrush. Can you recommend any youtube videos to get started? What are your thoughts John?
I mainly use my airbrush for spraying the base colour so I can use different colour paints.
You can spray as close as you like, depending on the pressure your compressor is set to. But best thing to do is spray on a piece of paper, and move the brush around, close and far away to see the effect it has 🙂
Thank you for that @johnlyons Can you recommend any starter youtube videos. 🙂
I sense airbrush lessons in the future …
These are brilliant vids @johnlyons . All of the steps are laid out clearly and simply, I can hear the compressor purr, almost quietly, in the background. You are really convincing me that I can actually use an airbrush inside the house.
I’m already mentally re-arranging my hobby room to accommodate an airbrush set-up. Once again, you display your terrible influence on my wallet. 😀
Great little tutorials guys and looking forward to more
A great example of cleaning the gun do you store the the gun with some cleaner to stop the seals drying out john or is that not a problem with the detail guns?
Thanks for the video, very useful. I might even gather the nerve to use mine this week
Thanks and welcome back ?????
This is a great video John. Hope there may be some more especially for a novice like me. I’m still trying to get over “the fear” of breaking the new airbrush. Maybe one on a deep clean and assembly would be helpful as I’m sure others have clogged up their first airbrush too. Thank you.
I’m finding these videos very useful as I’m going to be taking the plunge on an Airbrush in the near future.
Great to see John back doing videos, seems like such a lovely chap…
