New Plastic Box Set On Its Way For Frostgrave In Novemeber
August 31, 2016 by deltagamegirl22
November will see the next supplement for Frostgrave - Forgotten Pacts, which can only mean one thing... a new plastic set for the game!
What could possibly be missing for this fantastic world, other than Barbarians! Yep. You heard it.
Keep an eye out for a new plastic Barbarian kit from North Stat Military Figures to grow your collection and add some new, colorful characters to the frosty realm. I may just be missing Game of Thrones, but these totally strike me as a cross between Braveheart and the Wildlings.
Will you be adding some Barbarians to your Frostgrave games?
"I may just be missing Game of Thrones, but these totally strike me as a cross between Braveheart and the Wildlings..."
They look pretty cool. FG must be doing very well to keep releasing plastic kits.
Sounds good to me.
Wildlings was my first thought as well. I’ll be keeping an eye on those 😎
Always good to see more nice plastic fantasy minis. Why they insist on putting those daft integral bases on them I’ll never know though.
Maybe it makes them easier to cast? They’re pretty easy to slice off.
I think its more a hold over from metal historical miniatures. Those kind of bases would make casting metal (and possibly resin) minis easier, especially in gravity casting systems (any bubbles would theoretically end up in the base as opposed to the figure). Also it does mean you don’t really need to stick them to a base, but then why do they supply separate round plastic bases?
I suspect it’s an old convention from when Metal miniatures was often based on coins. To make them easier to glue to the coins. For some reason they can’t let it go even when making new models.
Why NS and almost all manufacturers of historical minis insist on still sculpting them that way in the age of HIPS when it would be so much easier for us all with just a peg under one or two feet (that could easily be cut off), I can’t understand.
I truly loath the practice 🙁
Big fan of the kits, and real like the model range. Even though the game is not for me
fantasy? my local is full of characters like these…
their looking good.
This game is so well supported with a release schedule that doesn’t break the bank. It also allows me to finally use a lot of minis that I have bought over years just because they look good.
On that note the Barbarians look good so I’ll jump in on the nickstarter when it begins.
Good looking and versatile that’s the trademark for all the FrostGrave plastics.
I’m picking up the Cultists soon, and then had the Gnolls on my ‘list of stuff to do’. looks like more has been added to the list…
They look really nice, I will probably get some at some point.
any idea of a timeline for the minis and the book?
Probably gonna pick some of these up to use as chaos marauders for my AoS Nurgle army. Don’t really like the current (ancient) plastic GW marauders but these should fit nicely. Shame marauders don’t get bows like the old chaos thugs used to.
That brings about my only real gripe (aside from the integrated bases) about the FG line of minis. Not enough of any one weapon style to make them useful in other larger scale fantasy games. For example, I love the Gnolls and really wanted to use them as Ungor for AoS but there’s not enough bows in the set to arm them all (or even half of them) that way. A complete non-issue if you’re using them as intended for FG or other small skirmish games, but with a few extra options per sprue, I am sure they would sell… Read more »
I’ll take some of these. 🙂 Actually, I need to add them to my shopping list. There’s a lot of plastic on their website that I haven’t got to yet!
One set at a time @cpauls1 if my experience with Frostgrave is anything to go by, haha. Then when its finished move onto the next one. Its easier on the auld sanity that way.
Then you miss the chance to mashing them together
They look great and could be used for many other games.
look very good
Great for saga too by the looks of them
Also could someone help me out with where to buy scenery like that shown in the pic above with new barbarians
Thanks

@phoenixman – it’s not exactly the same but you might want to check out these buildings from the excellent Darkops. I’ve just bought a bunch of their 10mm SF buildings but saw their Iceheim buildings at the UK Games Expo and they looked great:

4Ground also have a (pre-painted & more expensive) range:

Thanks angelicdespot for the links
However we have some 4ground stuff and the other stuff whilst good isn’t the same as that in the picture
