In This Episode
Welcome back to another episode of On The Table where we have some awesome stuff to show off in the wake of that epic Halloween episode! We'll be delving into the world of awesome terrain with Battle Systems and awesome stories at the hands of Mouseguard and Journey: Wrath of Demons, two firm favourites there!
As well as that we'll be checking out the epic WizKids take on Star Wars: X-Wing with Star Trek Attack Wing (Picard was always better than any Luke Skywalker I say!) and the release of Deadzone from Mantic Games.
Previous Winner
But who won the mega-competition from last episode I hear you say? Well the lucky winner of all that glorious undead goodness was...
Michal Kolomý
Well done sir and we hope you enjoy your massive booty bag of goodies that will be coming your way.
This Shows Prize
We also have a mega competition for you to get stuck in to this episode as well and this time it features the brilliant game X-Com.
With the release of X-Com: Enemy Within we'll be giving away 50 (yes 50!) Steam Codes for use on PC for the original game so you can get stuck in and warmed up for the expansion.
If you haven't heard of X-Com before, it's essentially like playing an awesome miniatures/board game on your PC where you command a squad of soldiers sent to deal with alien threats.
All you have to do to get your hands on a code is to comment on Youtube or Beasts of War and hopefully you'll be playing soon!

Love the Xcom game, weird to see it in on the table though XD.
We were looking at it and realised, it’s essentially a tabletop game translated into video game form. I’m sure we’d all love to see some Infinity mods for it 😉
BoW Ben
I will have to agree that Xcom, is one of those games that ticks the chords of a wargamer really well and its a nice game too, a worthy resurrection of the classic gold game.
Interesting fact – the designers were hitting a few brick walls while designing Enemy Unknown until they stripped it back to nothing and made a board game version. They got that to work first, then turned it back into a computer game.
James H, can I just say that its always great to bump into you on any forum and dont get a swelled head but as far as Game Designers cough cough go your my second favourite, my first being Sir Priestly. So high praise. Obviously one being a Gameing Genious the other…possibly 🙂 Love you James, now heres what I want. A Death Game Show style Skirmish game. On a nice Mat with 3D terrain but is sold as a board agme( yeah do that one!) Vehicles, Team/or single player, Objective/optional, with character development and League play, options with 80s style… Read more »
That is some very cool trivia. Thanks for that James.
Should have a look at Leviathan Warships, as it is made in the same vein. Turn based ship combat where you can customise your ships.

Another great episode guys! Lots of plastic crack to drool over!!!!
Xcom is great, glad to see you branching out a little and doing some PC games too
Ahh BoW why do you have to show me all this epic stuff? My wallet can’t handle it.
Damn it Warren i’m a student not a banker!
love xcom. I suggest the long war mod to any players.
I’ll bet my son would like to get his hands of one of those codes.
Xcom was one of my favourite games back in the day on the Amiga along with Speedball 2 and Sensi…never played this version would love to
Monkey magic! Boy, that takes me back. As a kid I somehow managed to love it while simultaneously having no clue what what actually happening.
The cardboard terrain looks pretty good. 🙂
Blimey. Xcom’s graphics have moved on just a little since the one I used to play in the olden days.
love to get my hand on dead zone, lets come x com
Dead zone is looking good.
love the Xcom game too!
this is pretty awesome that your also doing stuff with Xcom
after watching last weeks weekender i was very intrigued by xcom so i jump on youtube to have a look and the game looks awesome, i will defo be getting it, thanks warren for pointing it out to me
Will there be one for me too? 🙂
i could definitely see XCOM becoming a tabletop game. the video game is already styled as a turn based strategy game and implementing miniatures and playmats can translate the game easily. but i think i’d have a better analysis of the game if i had a copy of XCOM: Enemy Unknown. HINT, HINT! 😉
Another great news report on the gaming world. Can you please give some coverage in the next program to the Viking Hordes Kickstarter. It’s nice to see the first KS in AUS get off the ground for gaming, and it comes from Hobart, my old stomping ground. Looks like a fun and easy game to introduce Kids to Tabletop Wargamming, and is a cross over from a computer game.
I’m going to have to keep a eye out for Dust adventure it sounds pretty interesting. I wish I had the extra cash to get in on the Journey Kickstarter, it looks awesome.
Xcom is always a good time.
Battle systems terrain highlight of the week for me
got a group of friends going to the mantic open day including the guy i shared an order with so we’ll be getting our kickstarter goodiesend of the month 😀 looking foward to it and that terrain looks grand! wondering how to fit deadzone on it in it’s entirety curse mat based play!
That sci fi terrain is looking great. looks perfect for a star wars RPG.
love the kickstarter projects coming out recently! i’m still waiting for my raging heroes to get ready, they do have put out some amazing sculpts.
Ah man, talk more about Raging Heroes’, the stuff from their Kickstarter is really looking good!
