WizKids Unleash Iconic Godly D&D Dragons On The Realm
November 20, 2014 by brennon
WizKids have teamed up with Wizards of the Coast once again to bring you a pair of Godly Dragons for their Icons of the Realm range. See what you think of the deadly Bahamut and Tiamat soaring onto the scene!
So now we have two different Dragons from both the side of Good and Evil! Tiamat has the look of the iconic Dragon we all knew from the cartoon (which I still see DVDs for all the time) and Bahamut is posed to attack whatever has got his attention on the ground. I think of the two I do prefer Bahamut myself because of the pose and the detail they've gone into.
These are gigantic Dragons and I salute any party of adventurers who decides to go up against them on the battlefield!
What do you think?

Seen this game up close, models are pretty dire in the flesh, not a patch on X-wing.
These aren’t the Dungeons & Dragons Attack Wing line. These are from the Icons of the Realm collection. I’ve heard these are decidedly better painted than the Attack Wing stuff.
As for them not being as good as X-Wing – no they’re not, but they are much better than the Star Trek stuff and it wouldn’t take much to touch up a few areas to make the Dragons look nice.
Game is meant to be quite good with the Dragons too. Think Tom Vasel said that he much preferred it over Star Trek as a companion to X-Wing.

They actually have made rules for Tiamat for attack wing, but they are very limited as they are a part of the campaign/tournament they are running. The game rules themselves have a lot of improvements over X-wing, but is mostly polish, and the fact that you move in several layers now, with the introduction of ground models and units. I also love that they do something extra with the expansion packs, as they contain adventures of 2-3 missions and the cardboard terrain needed for them inside The elf wizard for example contain a 2d castle the wizard have to defend… Read more »
That’s cool – I know they’d done some neat stuff with the quests and adventures. I’m still teetering on the edge of getting my own Attack Wing set and I really want to just run Dragons haha.
They are not ‘decidedly better’ paint jobs than any other product on the market made by Wizkids. They are notoriously bad factory production line paint jobs across their entire ranges. I have boxes of both D&D Attack Wing and Icons of the realms sat right here in front of me and there is no difference in quality at all.
Well there was in the ones I’ve seen down at my local club. The D&D Attack Wings Dragons were a lot better than the Star Trek ships I saw by a mile. I had a good look over both sets in detail when they came out since I was interested in seeing how they compared up against X-Wing and while they aren’t on par with FFG I think the Dragons I saw at least were much better than the Star Trek ships. There was one set I saw where there were obvious errors including colour where it shouldn’t be and… Read more »
Those two look nice. That really makes me hope that some day this game might get Dragonlance God dragons as well.
Aren’t the Dragonlance Dragon-gods just Tiamat and Bahamut with different names?
I mean the Dragonlance universe is built as a D&D universe

have a look, each setting has it’s own Deities in regards to Forgotten Realms, Grey Hawk, Dragonlance. Dark Sun is different and it’s element based, Ravenloft, Spelljammer and Planescape I can’t remember.
