Wizards & Hasbro Team Up On Transformers Trading Card Game
July 20, 2018 by brennon
Hasbro and Wizards Of The Coast are teaming up on the new Transformers: The Trading Card Game.
There is a special version of the game available this weekend at the San Diego Comic Con but the game will be available for general release, with the Autobots launching first, in September of this year.
The game will feature a mechanic somewhat similar to those who have played Star Wars: Destiny where your main characters are represented in the centre of the game space and then supported with their Battle Deck.
The main characters will feature a flip mechanic where they can change between their robot and vehicular forms, allowing to use all manner of different tactics.
Decepticons and more are on the way in the future as well so you will have plenty of chances to explore the classic Transformers roster.
Are you tempted by this?

Aren’t WotC owned by Hasbro?
Yup
Yes they are – but Hasbro has done games without them and vice versa etc in the past. The fact that they’re actually pulling in WotC to add their flare to this is kinda cool. Means it might have more legs to it.
I seen this story on the side “highlights” and was coming here to say just that. It can hardly be called “Teaming up” if your boss tells you to do something. ?
Would like a player’s video first.
Ah, using the WoTC brand to fool folks in to thinking there is a game here rather than just collecting cards 🙂
What surprises me is that they are only just now doing this since Hasbro has owned WotC for years and Transformers is one of they most popular franchises. Sure they had some game that’s similar to Pirates from WK but never before TCG. Also this is second time they are doing giant robot themed TCG since back in 1996 or 1997 WotC had Battletech TCG created by Richard Garfield who also created MtG and VTES.
I’m sure there’s more than meets the eye here.
