New Look White Dwarf Landing For January 2019
January 5, 2019 by brennon
Games Workshop is looking to take White Dwarf to a new level with the latest issue, available this January.
The magazine expands upon a lot of what has made the magazine worth a read over the last couple of years and it's neat to see some great stuff for their main games like new rules for Warhammer Age Of Sigmar: Skirmish plus background on some of the factions within their worlds too.
I'm very tempted to check out this magazine with the January issue and follow it through, picking and choosing magazines as and when the topics take my fancy.
Are you going to be snapping this up this month?

More 40k content is always good thing and it’s good to have Index Astartes back.
Got mine yesterday .. I have read it from cover to cover and it is the best I have seen the magazine for some twenty years. Well done GW. They have totally removed the 10 pages of “new”* models from the magazine, which is a good thing.
*Over the last year the “new” model section contained three weeks of releases that we already knew about and was basically redundant if you have a computer
Is Thrudd back?
If only he was… even the comic he did a few years back didn’t last long…
As for January issue… I wasn’t impressed.
Sadly no …… 🙁
Oh and I don’t know if has been announced anywhere else in BoW, but Lyle Lowry, Privateer Press’s former No Quarter Editor appears to be White Dwarfs new full time editor as of this year.
I quite like the last 6 issues of No Quarter before it was cancelled, so it will be interesting to see what he brings to White Dwarf.
That is interesting. Since I haven’t been reading No Quarter I didn’t know about that.
No Quarter went through phases of awesome content and not a lot of awesome content. Like WD, its primary focus was supporting the miniatures games, so it was pretty easy for it to fall into the realm of extended advertising, but sometimes they’d have some really cool content.
It was revamped six issues before it was cancelled- and the last six issues did have quite a bit of good content (I think there was a ‘mini game’ in nearly every one).
It’s definitely massive improvement over the previous formula, even from a year back. Lots more texts, and next month we’ll be seeing AoS equivalent to index astarters, so that’s nice too.
AoS equivalent is most likely about Sigmarines. I am not waiting for that at all.
It’ll be Hammerhands, so most likely the chamber of Vandus within Hammers of Sigmar. Pretty neat stuff, I hope we get to see more details on the individual heroes this way.
Will be picking this up, seems like it is a return to being a hobby magazine. Seen a few comments about not including releases but seeing as lately it hasn’t aligned well with the magazine and in the days of the net seems redundant.
Yeah mate (happy new year btw 🙂 ) Not a new release in sight….. which is a good thing
Happy New Year Matey, hope it brings you what you want, and is an improvement on last year
Wow the dwarfs 6 quid now may get it for the poster all the same.
Isn’t that same price as before? At least euro price of WD is still 8€.
i stopped getting it when they started messing around with it going monthly and the like.
