The Welsh are now available for you to snag from the folks at Footsore Miniatures over on Kickstarter. There are great options for those wanting to dive in and pick up a Dark Age/Early Medieval force and also an army for the High Medieval and The Barons' War too.

The campaign is now funded and features metal miniatures in 28mm scale by the talented Matthew Bickley. We've seen a lot of miniatures for the English and the Scottish but I don't think we often see much hitting the tabletop for The Welsh. This campaign seeks to remedy that.

The first of the sets is perfect for those playing out battles around the end of the Dark Ages and the beginning of the Medieval period. I love that there is a great mix in here for making a force of skirmishers who are ready to jump their foes in the valleys of Wales.

I am particularly won over by the Knifemen who are going to be slipping those daggers into the backs of many a guard. I am always amazed by the amount of dynamism that you find in the sculpts by Bickley. It makes a massive change to a lot more of the static characters we've seen in the past from many companies. I mean, look at the Javelin Skirmishers!

The second of the sets that they have up for grabs as part of the Kickstarter is a pack that would be perfect for starting your The Barons' War adventures.

As you can see, a lot more armour on display here. The Welsh troops are a lot better kitted out and you'll also notice a fair few more horses in the mix too. I think my favourite miniatures are the Archers though. I have always been enarmoured by folks kicking ass with longbows/bows etc so these are right up my street.

New characters and incidental additions have been added into the mix. I like the addition of the Christian Priest who is probably trying to convince The Welsh of the "new" ways. I'd like to see him warring with the Hermit Priest for the souls of the people within the valleys of Wales.
