Welcome back, Operators! Are you ready to get high-speed low drag? Hitch up your kit and get ready for a great ride as we begin Season 3 of the SITREP Podcast. Today we have Oriskany talking Historicon. What he saw and liked and what impressed him the most.
Then we have Chris talking about what he has been up to while we have been away and what future plans he has in the works.
Here in the studio, we have Greg from DUST USA talking all things DUST 1947 and beyond!
Are you ready troop?
A great kick-off to Season Three!
interesting podcast I think the black sun game will grow into a wider area with the stranger things twist to go many routes down the road.
There was a Black Sun table at Historicon. Honestly not my cup of tea, but the people there were having a great time with it and the minis and table looked great! 😀
did you see the article how to design one shot RPGs I think any good strange story could be made into a game with the black sun rules to great effect Jim.
I’ve run lots of military-themed RPGs, some of them right here on the site with members of the community, and one (not here on the community) had a supernatural angle in World War II. Gears are in motion to PERHAPS, big PERHAPS … run a small campaign of moderns, but with a supernatural angle to recruit some players that might not otherwise be interested in moderns (White Wolf Mage: the Ascension, 2nd Edition).
Don’t hold me to that, this idea is embryonic at best.
Little acorns an all that Jim.
We’ll see what happens.
Yup.
Time to watch some classic 70s TV, time tunnel, planet of the apes, land of the lost, land of giants, for research???
Great start to Season 3.
Cool to hear some DUST talk as well. G is right about the Russian’s, I’ve got an Infantry Horde of them and they can be really nasty. Lot’s of Tesla as well which likes to blow up enemy ammunition and weld the hatches shut.
Nice to hear some talk about 3D Printing terrain as well. All it takes is a few Air Conditioner Units and a Satellite Dish and your Adobe Buildings for the Crusades turn into Rural Iraq/Afghanistan.
Indeed, @elessar2590 , Chris is a big 3D Printer. Another “secret sauce” for “time and place” for a table I find is signage. Super easy too, go to Google images, download a few highway signs, cafe signs, etc … from whatever area you’re gaming in, print, resize in any software (hell, PowerPoint will do), print, paste onto some old cereal box cardboard, cut, and blue-tack that s*** onto your buildings for temporary signage. This is PARTICULARLY effective in Asia, the Middle East, or Russia, basically anywhere where a different ALPHABET is used in signage. Turn your French Normandy village into… Read more »
Just wanted to say Sitrep had past me by, but i gave it a listen and loved it, I’m now binge-listening the old ones whilst at work! It has made me really want to try a modern combat game (Something i have looked at but never jumped in), recently in the pass it on that beasts of war did I got spectre ops and a couple of teams, so I think I will take the plunge (also have ordered skirmish sangin I also like the views of ex military personnel on the hobby (something I know nothing about), but i… Read more »
