Watchful I Studio Show Off What’s Next For The Chinese Warring States
March 11, 2015 by brennon
Watchful I Studios are closing in on their Kickstarter launch date and in the run up to it they've not only received a bunch of their masters for the Chinese Warring States Infantry but they've previewed what's coming up next too...
These were straight out of the packet they received with a bit of black ink splashed onto them so you could see the details. These are looking very polished as first pieces from Watchful I and they don't look like they require much clean-up at all. There's also clean definition between the different parts on the miniature meaning that painting them should be a doddle.
As well as the Infantry Watchful I have been working on some additional components of the army that could come out through the process of the campaign and beyond. The first up are the Cavalry that you can see above which come with either pole-arms, swords or bows and riding some rather beefy looking horses. I wouldn't want to get charged by them.
The future also brings some additions that are both real and mythological. In addition to some heavy shield wielding troops and more bowmen they have been thinking up ideas for a big Chinese Dragon. Suddenly this historical army could have a fantastical element and we might see them go down the route that Kensei has where they add in a few monsters and such, exploring the mythology of the Far East.
...I want them to work on some Not-Dynasty Warriors miniatures. What? Don't judge me!
What do you think of their progress and plans for the future?

Very nice indeed. 😀 Good level of detail and clean sculpts.
Although I am a little disappointed that they’re not in plastic but hey, in the near future maybe? 😀
Overall I’m liking what they’ve made. 🙂 *thumbs up*
Thanks for the nice announcement and I appreciate your comment admiralbiatch1991. Please keep in mind that it is our intent to release the range in metal with the hopes (fingers crossed) that we earn enough to justify plastics. We felt that there is a gap for this fantastic time period in the marketplace so the priority is to release a range first then sort out plastics.
Thanks again for the kind words and stay tuned as we are still feverishly working to show off a few more things before the Kickstarter begins.
Would have to be plastic for me too as its the only was a fairly decent sized army can be made due to costs. Do look very nice though.
Love the sculpts, finally we are getting great looking mini’s from the far east and not just Europe . Thank you guys , watchfulstudio count me in for a part of the army( dam kickstarter is going to bankrupt me ) . please be kind ( ha, ha, ha, I’m toast .) can not weight.
