Watch Steamforged’s Keynote On Guild Ball & More
November 29, 2016 by brennon
Steamforged Games has uploaded the Keynote Speech from SteamCon onto their Youtube Channel allowing you to catch up with everything that was announced over the weekend. One of the big things, however, was more on the Farmer's Guild for Guild Ball.
A full reveal of the team was shown off including some very awesome looking characters. You have some macabre looking fellows like the Scarecrow fellow on the left and the lovable Rooster too on the right.
They look great and as the Keynote continues you'll get a few glimpses at the stats for some of the characters that are part of the Guild too giving you a feeling as to how they play.
It also seems like future releases for Guild Ball might be available in pre-assembled plastic!
Terrain
Additionally, they also had some nice terrain pieces on the way too AND some cool Goal Posts too!
The posts, in particular, are awesome and it would be fun to see these and more terrain pieces for the tabletop, giving you a few more ways to 'dress the set' as it were.
There should be another version of the Keynote uploaded with some fancy images spliced in as well so watch out for that too.
What do you think of the Farmer's Guild?

some cool stuff was revealed, but all was undermined by the announcemnt that the farmers guild are being released in one piece plastic, what a massive disapointment x
It’s not one-piece plastic, it’s preassembled plastic. I expect this to be the norm from now on.
which leads to significantly less dynamic poses and less detail than the metals, see Kick off for the perfect example. Great for an intro, but if this is the way the game is going, I wont be buying anymore miniatures, which is a shame as I would rank GB as having been the best on the market.
They were telling people at SteamCon that the Farmers Guild preassembled plastics are superior to the Kick Off minis, and that they only made the switch because they could duplicate the quality of the current range. I would hang fire on making any judgements until we actually see them. If they come out and they’re rubbish, then have at it lol. In terms of the dynamism of the poses, there’s nothing intrinsic to pre-assembled plastic that means they can’t have dynamic poses. The only difference is that someone else glued the mini together before we received it. I expect the… Read more »
fair point on waiting and seeing, but I’m very apprehensive. Whilst pose is not intrinsic to metal models, the fact that some of the models that appear in KO, specifically Marbles and Harmony, have significantly weaker poses to adjust for the material.
At the end of the day, Ill continue to support what is my favourite game system, just disapointed in certain choices that they are making
Had the best seat in the house for this one. Front row right in front of the talking.
So stoked for steamforged in 2017, and determined to make steamcon next year. Plus season 3 has decided me on picking up my 3 missing guilds from the existing.
I might just set up a direct debit to steamforge
these guys know what they are doing.
have just started watching the vid now. But if what I hear is true and they are going to plastic then they just lost me as a customer. I don’t support companies who go in for crap plastic over better materials.
I genuinely don’t think if they believed they couldn’t hit the quality they would make the move. Matt, creative director, is an avid painter and drives the quality. Also those that have tried them say they paint really well and the new wave are meant to be a step up. Of course your choice but I think worth looking first.
They are great quality I will give you that. The only problem is that it’s great quality for PVC, but not compared to other more expensive materials. Metal and resin will always find greater detail due to the chemical properties of the source material. The bottom line for me is if they want to say that it’s great quality for the cheaper material they’re using then fine. But in my opinion it’s not greater than all other options out there.
Its fair so long as they paint up well I am happy.
And of course these opinions are my own and are in no way meant to push my thoughts onto others. To each his or her own. Out of respect I will reserve my final comments until I see proof in hand at my local.
Im really glad they’re going plastic. I was on the fence but having got Kick Off! in hand I think theyre on to a winner, great sculpts, a little paint and they’re ready to go. Yes they might not be the intricate plastic that Blood Bowl has but I’d stick recommend them and will be purchasing the Farmers when they come out.
I haven’t rewatched the video to confirm, but IIRC they said that the quality of the Farmer’s minis is a step above the Kick Off minis.
Of that I have no doubt. But IMHO legendary PVC will still never be able to compete with say legendary resin for example.
Me too, going to get a goal built for them this weekend and trial a paint scheme on Tater
New game has me really interested. On flock and awe Matt said it had some really unique mechanics.
Thanks for posting this, I would have missed it otherwise. A lot of interesting stuff here ………………. Exciting times hey =)
@dags Mate you are probably already aware of this, and it is totally unworthy of me to gloat, but this video brought something to my attention that I was unaware of ..
Brisket Won the Butchers War !!!!!! Huzzah !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mate I know you were on the other side but what can I say … I am a lesser man than you are …. Brisket Won, Brisket Won , Brisket Won !!!!!!
=) =) =)
(Console yourself with the knowledge that you are a much better man than myself)
@beardragon14 I would never claim to be a better man.
Gloat away means we got vet Ox ☺ #oxlives
There’s no Butcher captain in S3, which means you can only field VOx with Fillet, so who really won 😉 lol Also, when registering for the Empire Big League at SteamCon they asked which side you were on, and as I had no preference I just said the first one that came into my head, which was Fillet. I proceeded to lose every game, not necessarily on purpose but the structure of the Big League meant you were incentivised to make sub-optimal plays, and I did that. All my losses were to Team Brisket players. Fillet lost 49% to 51%.… Read more »
@dags. Yeah mate Vet Ox is a win (Ox is my favorite butcher so glad to have him back)
@redben I thank you for your contribution to team Brisket 😉
@spaderfish found this i thought was worth sharing. Bearing in mind this is kick off set and according to steamforged about 70% as sharp as new minis like farmers will be, appreciate your views but it why I am all onboard

The picture makes a solid argument so thank you for sharing it. And to be fair I am not saying that Steamforge is producing bad miniatures. It is merely my belief that they could be even more incredible in the detailing with a different source material. My skepticism comes from ventures like the new starter boxes for Warmahordes. When we broke those open at my local everyone immediately noticed that they looked like toys found on the bottom of a cereal box. With roughly the same quality. So while my reservations are in place I do ultimately plan to put… Read more »
I would expect this to be annual thing. If you’re not in tournaments and have your own group you play with then yous can just choose to stick with the stat cards you have if you wish. I think it’s a very small price to pay to address issues with balance (I see you, Obulus) and keep the meta fresh.
