War Banner and Footsore Miniatures are going to soon be releasing the large Warring Clans model range. With forty-plus models in the collection at launch, it is going to be a pretty darn good way to get your hands on Samurai and more for use in the likes of Test Of Honour.

The big miniature that will be free to those who order over a certain amount this month is Honda Yoshihito. Now, this fellow isn't an actual historical figure but they have gone into some depth about the background they made up for him.

"The Kensei (swordmaster) Honda Yoshihito is the youngest son born into a wealthy family of Fujiwara decent in Mikawa province. As the youngest son, he was allowed to learn the critical sword styles of the time, Kage-ryū, Chūjō-ryū and Tenshin Shōden Katori Shintō-ryū Kenjutsu, as long as he continued his studies.

When total war broke out, he was old enough to join his family and fight to test the sword skills he had honed being very keen and eager to prove them in battle. Fighting alongside his cousin Honda Tadakatsu at the Battle of Anegawa he earned renown cutting down four named samurai of the Azai and Asakura clans.

Because of these exploits, he earned the title Kensei and students keen to learn his secrets of the sword".

I would say that could maybe give you enough background for setting him up in your skirmish games and the warband that he hangs around with.

As mentioned above, he is free with all orders over a certain amount. So, if you're looking to snap up a Samurai and get stuck into this game then you have a perfect opportunity this month.

So, Lloyd. Are you going to be getting in on this?
