Games Workshop dropped the news this week that the next army that will be getting resurrected for Warhammer: The Old World is the mighty Warriors Of Chaos. Corrupted warriors from the wastes will be massing in the North and looking to strike at the heart of the fractured Empire.

Two big waves of miniatures are going to be coming to support the Warriors Of Chaos. There will be old plastic kits coming back alongside classic metal miniatures and reworked Forge World resin ones. For those starting out, you could always go with the Warriors Of Chaos Battalion (above) which features a bunch of core plastic kits for building your armies.

This set comes with thirty-two Chaos Warriors and ten Chaos Knights. They are backed up by two Chaos Chariots which can also be built as Gorebeast Chariots. This should probably give you the basis of a good 1000-point army once you add in a couple of characters to lead the way.

Additional rules for the Warriors Of Chaos will come in the new Arcane Journal.

Arcane Journal: Warriors Of Chaos // Warhammer: The Old World

The Arcane Journals are not needed to play your Warriors Of Chaos army (all of the core rules come in the big blue books for Warhammer: The Old World) but they do come with additional scenarios, special characters and thematic armies. Galrauch, The Great Drake makes a return in this book alongside the Wolves Of The Sea army for Marauders and the Heralds Of Darkness.

Additional accessories come in the form of the Reference Card Pack and the Dice Set which you can use alongside your armies for quick reference and fancy dice rolling. I hope Nuffle is on your side.

That gives you the core of your Warriors Of Chaos releases but, as mentioned above, there are also loads of additional plastic, metal and resin releases making their way back to the tabletop and people's collections.

Returning Plastic Miniatures

Classic plastic miniatures like the Chaos Lord On Manticore are going to be ready to lead your warriors into the heart of battle in the name of the Chaos Gods.

Chaos Warriors, Chaos Knights, Chaos Lords, Chaos Sorcerers and more will all be coming back plus some favourites like the Dragon Ogres and Chaos Chimera. This means that if you've picked up the Battalion, you could slot in a few more of these plastic miniatures and be on your way to larger points games.

Returning Metal Miniatures

On the metal front, the iconic Chaos Trolls will be ready to kick ass and take names alongside optional weapon kits for some of your regiments plus Chaos Chosen and Chaos Ogres.

I really like the Chaos range for Warhammer Fantasy Battles and Warhammer: The Old World and it's very tempting to dive in and make this my army of choice for the return of The Old World. There are so many characterful miniatures in the range.

Remastered Resin Miniatures

Last but not least, a big bunch of returning resin miniatures will also be getting remastered and re-released. Don't worry, this isn't more Finecast. These are miniatures that were either resin or metal and have been reworked to make them easier to work with.

The Dragon Ogre Shaggoth will be making a return alongside the Chaos Dwarfs Hellcannon. Dragons from Monstrous Arcanum will also be coming back into the fold and and the excellent Skin Wolves. It's great to see so many of these almost-forgotten miniatures getting to see the light of day again.

Made-to-order miniatures will also be popping up at different points and if that hasn't tickled your Chaos tastebuds, Wave Two will feature the Chaos Marauders!

The Chaos Marauders and Marauder Horsemen will ride into battle alongside Chaos Knights, Chaos Chariots and Chaos Warhounds.
