Warlord Games are continuing to add to the world of Black Seas with some new ships for use in your games. Explosives and deadly smaller ships are the catch of the day this time around starting with the Bomb Ketch Squadron.

Bomb Ketch Squadron - Black Seas

The Bomb Ketch was never really meant to be used as a traditionally cannon-armed ship but instead used a mortar which was mounted at the bow. It was loaded with explosive shells rather than solid shot meaning that it could rain down some serious fire and brimstone on its foes.

The British used ships like these in 1347 but it was then developed and updated by the French in the late 17th Century. The British then, in typically British fashion, copied it and used it across their fleet after that. They seem like a good idea but I don't think I'd want to be on one with all of that explosive shot and powder beneath the deck.

Send In The Black Seas Cutters

As well as the Ketch, you can also pick up a Cutters Squadron which is fast and agile.

These small vessels were designed to be transports but could also be used as dogs nipping at the heels of larger ships. In a prolonged fight they wouldn't stand up to the mightier ships of the period but they might still find use within your collection.

As some of the fastest ships of the period they could be used for scenarios where you need to get the message to its destination at haste. You could also use them as a target for your opponent to focus on in scenarios, trying to blow their human cargo out of the water before they can land.

Are you tempted by these new Black Seas ships?
