Warlord Games Newest Tiger For Bolt Action Is Great
April 20, 2021 by avernos
Warlord Games have teamed up with Italeri once again to produce a stunning piece of plastic for Bolt Action and this time they've gone large, no larger than that, you're still thinking too small, give up? It's the Jagdtiger, pronounced incorrectly by non-Germans everywhere!
Jagdtiger // Warlord Games
Now you too can field the heaviest armoured fighting vehicle that took the field in WWII, and Otto Carius' second favourite Tiger. The Panzerjäger Tiger Ausf. B was developed late in the conflict, only around 80 actually reached combat, the first in September of 1944. Win games without making friends by fielding this monster on your 4x4!
The 'teeth' of the Jagdtiger was the 128mm PaK 44 anti-tank gun. Noted for its weapon's performance at long ranges, the Jagdtiger was rightly feared - this new plastic vehicle will soon be bringing that fear to Bolt Action tabletops. To replicate this hobby ruining gun, its primary weapon does not suffer range penalties in Bolt Action.
It comes with the unit stat card and vehicle damage markers along with a decal sheet that includes markings for Otto Carius as well if you want to try to defend the Ruhr with the 512th Heavy Anti-tank Battalion.
Just make sure to support the flanks as it's not the most nimble of creatures but the slab of metal to the front should rebuff most unwanted attention. It looks like Italeri has made another stunning vehicle whether you plan on a modelling job or actually using it on the table it looks like it will be a real joy to paint up.
What do you think of the last big cat?

Ooh another battle beast to add to army force’s.
Tiger!
The embedded video isn’t working… is that just me?
beat the video hamster with a mallet
should be fine now
Very nice . Any idea if they retooled the hull to make it a scale 30cm longer like the real beastie , or did they just reuse the Tiger II hull like many 1/72 & 1/35 model companies do ?
at 1/56 that would be about 5cm so I imagine they’ve probably just reused the Tiger II hull because cost, but I remain open to being pleasantly surprised. I’ve not seen anything yet about actual model sizes
Studying the video , there seems to be more space between the last road wheel and the idler on the JT than on the plastic Tiger II , so maybe they did retool . I like the gun crutch and the rear AA machine gun mount , nice touches . No matter the hull size I’m still getting one , it will make a nice scenery piece blocking a road due to break down or lack of fuel . Now to find some pictures of the internal latches of the rear hatch
it would be a great terrain piece. You could make it that the main gun does not work and it can not move, but the MGs still work. It would be formidable to beat…..and you have a bunch of kids helping defend it.
Looks like a lot of the detail, tow cables, tools etc is moulded on rather than separate. That’s a bit disappointing. And is it just me, or are Warlord using less exquisitely painted models these days? The infantry in the video are games standard rather than collectors standard, which might be a good thing to make it seem more accessible.
Not sure if I will pick one up, given I am unlikely to actually use it for gaming. If one comes up cheap, probably yes, just for completeness rather than for gaming.
