Warlord Build On Your Freeborn Force For Gates Of Antares

Warlord Games is helping you build upon your Freeborn force for the world of Beyond The Gates Of Antares. Leading the way we have new commanders, Prince Batu and his loyal follower Baray Tsulmari.
Let's learn a little more about the two of them...
"Prince Batu is a young scion of the ruling Tsulmar clan of the Freeborn House Delhren. Having misspent his youth upon the kind of frivolous and indulgent activities felt necessary to a princeling of the blood, the ruler of House Delhren and leader of the Tsulmar clan decided to put the young wastrel to good use."
I think this pairing sounds like a classic one from Hollywood movies. The design of the Freeborn is probably the best next to the Algoryn and I think it comes across in their characters well here.
"The Prince of the Delhren is accompanied by his bodyguard, Commander Baray Tsulmari. She is a highly capable soldier and leader, with stats that are better than those of Batu himself. When it comes to making unit tests, use the best value for the unit, whether that is Batu or Baray. This means the two function as a very effective team."
Of course, if you're going to be picking up these leaders they are going to need a force to lead into battle and that's where the Freeborn Starter Army comes in.
Much like with what they're now doing with their Historical armies they also have an Expansion that can be added to this set which comes with more options.
Some of the models can also be brought as separate options for the tabletop if you just want to upgrade your army bit by bit. For example, the Domari Squad is one of the sets which makes up quite a lot of the Freeborn force.
Last but not least we also have the Solar Command Skimmer which will be cruising along, working to keep your force on the straight and narrow.
Once again I like the style and design choices for the Freeborn across the board and they are one of the most up-to-date looking factions from the range. They appear to have got the aesthetic just right and they work as an alien and yet familiar looking force.
What do you think of the Freeborn?

Those do look really good.
Looks like they could be used as Fremen (Dune) as well. Didn’t like the look of these at first vs the older metals (as they have the cloaks wrapped around them now), but its growing on me (and they don’t look like scifi elves anymore).
BtGoA is one of those games that i wish I had more time for. I played in last year’s campaign with a mate of mine and we had an absolute hoot of a time.
Warlord are really starting to fill out the various faction’s ranges now, and the new minis are absolutely lovely…….. damn maybe I have to do a a gaming schedule so I don’t miss any good stuff…. bugger
These do make the Freeborn a lot more appealing, but still having too much fun stomping around as the Ghar in Antares for now.
Until my Ghar are done not looking at anything else. Freeborn are a fantastic range though. Really like them.
@dags Which Ghar are you with, the plucky, brave and oh, so cool Ghar Outcast Rebels or the uninspired, insidious, cowardly Ghar Empire?? (There are no value judgements being made on your response …. honest! 😀 )
@beardragon14 at the moment I only have starter box/starter army ghar with a couple of bombers, plus original fartok and ltd rebel chap. Need to add a command crawler but I really like the rebels mini, so probably both pondering a scheme. Back groundwise Fartok beats Karg but I prefer the Karg mini as it real sells the corrupt little self-serving weasel.
The two character minis feature in some of the game fluff written by Tim Bancroft ( http://www.warlordgames.com/antares-fiction-plaguespore-part-i ). There’s also a fiction book or two out at the moment (with more planned). The first book has already sold out on it’s first print run. Gates has sparked my interest, as its a non “grim dark” sci-fi game that somehow harkens back to the Sci-fi of the 70s and 80s. Its kinda like “Hard” Sci-fi/Space Opera in setting. There’s a good FB page that gets a lot of sneak peaks (plus Mr Priestly post on there from time to time), the… Read more »
What’s that flying squid beside the prince.
It’s the Prince’s nanodrone, I believe – looks like Isorian technology/tenticlology.
