Andy Hobday of Warhost has been sharing more amazing Paul Hicks sculpts ahead of the Outremer Kickstarter for The Barons' War in May. It's becoming very tempting to dive deep into a big Historical Crusader-based adventure next month.

Knights Of The Order Of St John - The Barons War

Leading the way for these previews, we have some of the Knights Of The Order Of St John. As I've stated in the past, I am a massive fan of knights in tunics and hoods. So, seeing these pop up is certainly working towards weakening my resolve when it comes to diving in. It doesn't help that Paul Hicks does such amazing work on their faces, injecting them with personality.

We also recently got treated to a look at some more miniatures for those fighting under Saladin and other warlords. Here are the Ayyubid Archers.

These archers lived a demanding life and were drilled to perfection when it came to using their weapon of choice. It meant that they could be pretty much pinpoint accurate even in the face of a heavily armoured charge by ranks and ranks of knights! Pluck that flower of nobility from the field lads!

Outremer Characters

As well as the rank and file, we also got to see some of the characters that are being worked on. Here we have one of the advisors for your commander. He looks suited to be a banner bearer or someone hefting up one of those overtly huge crosses.

Again, a knight in that awesome chainmail with a cool helmet and a hood. What are you doing to me, Hobday?! I think I could have a lot of fun painting these up in a dirty style with the dust and sand of the desert finding its way into all the folds of those robes.

We also got another Advisor with this fellow. He seems to be admonishing someone for their utterly terrible battle plan. There is so much detail worked into his outfit that even a simpler miniature like this feels like it deserves a top-notch paint job.

This range has also caught the eye of one HVM Workbench. They do some stunning painting and situate the finished models in really awesome dioramas and vignettes. So, of course, we got a look at some of the finished Outremer models from them.

Well that's just bloody awesome, right? This is what I was talking about a couple of weeks ago on the Cult Of Games XLBS. Well painted miniatures in cool surroundings and photographed nicely make me want to dive into a game. You get that buzz in the back of your mind that you could recreate something as cool as this on the tabletop.

Are you tempted to back Outremer when the range comes to Kickstarter?

"What are you doing to me, Hobday?!"
