Warhammer: The Old World Heroes & Terrain Coming This Week
August 12, 2024 by brennon
Games Workshop are bringing brand new miniatures to The Mortal Realms but also resurrecting plenty of old miniatures for Warhammer: The Old World. We'll start off with the returning Dwarf kits that can be used to reinforce your Dwarfen Mountain Holds.

Shop Warhammer: The Old World @ Store.OnTableTop
Starting things off, we have the Dwarf King With Oathstone who was originally Belegar Ironhammer during the time of Warhammer Fantasy Battles. The Oathstone is a statement of intention to your enemies and the Dwarf King and his regiment won't be shifting once they've planted themselves.
The Dwarf Slayer Of Legend is another older plastic miniature that has had a life as a classic Slayer but also as Grombrindal.

He is now ready to leap back into the fighting once again from atop that crumbling bit of Dwarfen ruin. Maybe he is clearing out his Hold of the enemies that rampaged through its halls, causing him to take the Slayer Oath.
A big regiment of Dwarf Miners are also available for you to scoop up this weekend. Have these fellows burst out of the ground and strike at your enemy's flanks or rear with their blasting charges.

The Miners also come with their Miner's Carts which can help you with your tunnelling. It's good to see so many of the older Battle For Skull Pass miniatures (and those inspired by them) making a return to the tabletop.
Plastic Dwarf artillery is also available for you to get your hands on with both the Organ Gun and Cannon packed into one set.

This comes with the Cannon and the Organ Gun alongside the crew for each. You also have a bunch of bits and bobs which you can use to adorn your bases. Maybe you could even use these bits to make thematic objective markers?
Taking to the skies, you can also fly around the battlefield with a Dwarf Gyrocopter & Gyrobomber kit. Either scald your enemies with steam or drop bombs on them and shatter the resolve of regiments.

All of these plastic kits are going to be available to pre-order this weekend, bulking up your Dwarfen Mountain Holds armies. Alongside the core releases from a few weeks ago, this means that Dwarf fans are rather well-catered for right now.
Troll Lovin' Orcs
One Orc release is also available this weekend. This fellow, Ogdruz Swampdigga Da Troll Calla, comes in resin from Forge World.

Rules for Ogdruz are available in the Arcane Journal: Orc & Goblin Tribes and you can also use him alongside a thematic force of Trolls. His time spent near those creatures has given him the ability to use Troll magic and ire from his Orc allies. Maybe he would find himself better off surrounded by Goblins?
Warhammer: The Old World Terrain
Capping things off, we also have a set of Warhammer: The Old World terrain that will be returning to the tabletop. There are no prices as of yet for these but fingers crossed they aren't going to be blowing people's budgets!
Sigmarite Chapel Of The Empire // Warhammer: The Old World
Some smaller terrain kits are making it back to the tabletop including the Sigmarite Chapel Of The Empire and the Watchtower Of The Empire. Both of these are brilliant kits and would be good for The Old World but also Warhammer Age Of Sigmar.
Watchtower Of The Empire // Warhammer: The Old World
These kits were/are incredibly characterful and I think there are going to be a lot of folks who missed out on these back in the day now eager to pick them up. The awesome Fortified Manor Of The Empire is also making a return and could set the scene for some excellent scenarios.

Once again, these are going to be snapped up so quickly I reckon. Accessories are also on the way including the Walls And Fences set...

...and the standard Warhammer Hills. As a Dwarf player, these would always find their way into my deployment zone somehow.

One of my favourite sets, the Arcane Ruins, is also back and should be a solid option for those seeking a place of power to battle over. I made my set rather modular so you could use the different ruined sections to create alternative set-ups.

Could you see yourself perhaps picking up this whole bundle of terrain from Games Workshop to fill out your Warhammer: The Old World battlefields?
Let me know in the comments below what you think!

I realise that I may get exiled from the BoW website by @brennon for saying this… but I don’t care about dwarves…not a fan of the beardy little freaks…
However, I do like the terrain, but it’s GW and that means overpriced probably.
How very dare you…
If it makes you feel any better I don’t like gnomes, halflings, or elves (except drow)…
I’ve been seeing a retailer price list doing the rounds and shockingly the terrain is pretty reasonable – the full Empire Manor kit is supposedly going to be less than £80, even before any FLGS discounts. No FOMO either as these terrain kits are supposedly going to be available for the forseeable future…..
