Wargames Factory’s American Rifle Company Help You Win WWII
March 24, 2014 by dracs
Wargames Factory have released the 15mm scale American Riflemen unit that they have been teasing us with, ready to join the battles of WWII in games such as Flames of War.
If you saw this weekend's For the Love of Vlog you would have heard our discussion about the different scales and proportions on the market. These Wargames Factory 15mm are, I believe, more realistically proportioned than those used in Flames of War so they will appeal for those of you looking for a bit more realism to your models.
Still, the sculpts themselves are pretty good and will match in well with WWII 15mm games. In the box you can find 92 figures in total: 52 riflemen, 8 riflemen with grenades, 10 sergeants with Tommy guns, 2 radio operators, 6 BAR operators, 4 bazooka operators and loaders and 4 officers and 2 snipers.
How do you find Wargames Factory's 15mm minis compare to those of the Flames of War range?
Those look pretty good I must say.
I’ve only had Flames of War infantry from the Open Fire starter set (which look fine, a bit chubby perhaps but not too bad) so I’ve been scouting out the interwebs to try find slightly more realistically scaled troops.
Perhaps an article of great alternatives to FoW soldiers would be in order? Or is there one such article somewhere that I could be linked to?
I know Plastic Soldier Company are probably the best for money to content ratio but what other options are there?
Specifically I want Germans, Americans and Russians in 15mm.
I’d be interested in that myself. Maybe as part of the upcoming eagerly anticipated season 2 of FoW FTW? For which I’m checking daily… And bolt action… Pleeeeeease be soon! It’s was my enjoyment of season 1 that tipped me over the edge and I picked up FoW, personally I’m using a mix of PSC infantry/stugGs, open fire shermans and PSC panthers. Though I’m not too anal about historical accuracy so my grenadiers became fallschirmjagers! I find the PSC plastics better value for money myself even though Battlefront are moving more towards plastics now. And quality is just as good.… Read more »
the other two big companies for 15mm would be Skytrex and Command decision which are from Old Glory, there is also Forged in Battle from West Wind but they are quite expensive
Oh there is Peter Pig as well, though tend to be quite big
The only think you have watch with Old Glory is that sometimes you will only ever get one pose per pack of 50, or 50 LMG’s etc though it does bring the price down to 11 quid for 50
Look great I’ll have to pick some up. I hope they expand the line soon.
The main reason I never got into FoW was the poor Fisher Price quality of the figures. These look great, and I may need to reconsider!
You would be better getting into something like Chain of Command or Fistful of TOW’s
These look great. Very clean looking sculpts. As a previous poster mentioned, the Open Fire box (an awesome starter box imo) contained somewhat chubby infantry with flimsy guns that snap off easily.
For the price I think I will be picking some of these up. See if I can’t create the 101st Airborn.
