The Wargames Factory Woodland Indians Ambush Your Troops!
June 7, 2014 by brennon
As well as all the regiments and organised soldiers you'll also be able to get your hands on the ambushing units of the Woodland Indians soon from the folks at Wargames Factory. See what you think of this upcoming boxed set...
The set promises to be one full of dynamism, adaptability and detail so I can't wait to see what they do with it. Depending on what they add to this set you could potentially use this set for miniatures in a range of different time periods. If you're lucky they might even work as Skraeling for the Dark Age period of history following the Viking settlement of the Americas.
Needless to say this could work well as an awesome auxiliary force for your existing European troops.
Will you be looking to pick these up?
I suggest a narrative ‘Last of the Mohicans’ campaign – these would be perfect for it combined with the infantry sets. Watch the Daniel Day-Lewis film and you’ll see what I mean.
You can get a (last of the Mohicans) box set from.
Warlord Games Black Powder French Indian War.
Gotta get me some of these…
Ahem… These people look like they are the indigenous humans from the continent now known as North America rather than the Sub-continent of Asia… so “Woodland Native Americans” please!
But no human is indigenous to north america. We’re an invasive species to everywhere except Africa. In the light of recent genetic research, they should probably be called migrated siberian folk.
Snark aside, those seem to look nice, though sadly inclusion of firearms precludes use for any earlier period and they seem to be specifically northern woodlands too, so no Natchez wars or precolumbian wargaming with them without extensive converting.
If they have also bows (and I think they will have bows), I will love to buy them, to use them for a western posse and also to use them as skraelings for SAGA. I must only check how to get the rules and the necessary board so I could use them for SAGA.
@teskal follow this link http://studiotomahawk.freeforums.org/index.php
Go to the armoury the rules for skraelings and the battleboard are available to download there in french and english.
Happy gaming 🙂
Thanks
I’m thinking more Muskets and Tomahawks. I going to wait to see the actual minis before I get too excited.
Okay, I might have to get these, if only to set up a game based on the Battle of “Oriskany.” 😀
Oh, and thanks for the websites and tips, @huscarle
Thanks to you for the reference to the Battle of Oriskany. I’d heard of it but never looked into it until now. Wow I think there is a lot of gaming potential there.
Thanks, @huscarle . The summer campaign of ’77 in upstate New York has always been one of my favorites in the AWI. Lots of factions, lots of operational axes, forts, lakes, rivers, and most of the fights are pretty small, so they’re easier to game. 🙂
Any good reading material you could recommend ?
Looking forward to the ‘Casino’ terrain set that comes with it 😉
