Wargames Atlantic gave folks a peek at some more of their upcoming plastic miniatures this week. The Conquistadors are coming soon for those wanting to dive into some 16th Century Historical combat on the tabletop and they are looking fabulous!
Conquistadors // Wargames Atlantic
This set has been painted by the very talented Andreas Heneborn and it certainly makes these miniatures pop. I love the range of warm colours throughout and how it works nicely with the strong metallics too. I have to say that those beards have worked a treat! I do like a good beard.

These miniatures could be used by those wanting to head across the ocean to the New World in search of fame and glory. I just hope that the natives make sure to give them what for as soon as they get off their boats!
According to Wargames Atlantic, they have managed to pack quite a lot onto the plastic frames you'll get in this kit. There are plenty of weapon options for making your 16th Century soldiers and you might even find yourself being able to explore time periods just before then too.

With a myriad of head and weapon options throughout and an as-yet-revealed secret part of the sprue, this is looking like it could be a really good option for those wanting to dive into this period of history. Wargames Atlantic seem to be continuing to hit it out of the park with their plastic sets.
You can check out more of what they have been tinkering with HERE and give us your thoughts on this plan to make Landsknecht Ogres!
Are you liking the new Conquistadors kit?
"...give us your thoughts on this plan to make Landsknecht Ogres!"
Getting a box of these for sure. Look great in a Dogs of War army. Looking forward to the Ogres. Nice to have some non fat gut plastic Ogres.
These guys look awesome.
Two boxes for sure.
Would tudor/elizabethan forces have dressed like this at this time?
yes they would do the job for Henry VIII and Lizzy, so you could use them for Irish wars also.
I believe so yes … though all i have in my head is a dodgy Spanish accident and someone going excuse me meister…. so my historical accuracy is off at mo 🙂
Thanks both, the hats looked right but that’s the extent of my knowledge!
They look good, I was wondering if there was a ruleset in which you pitch them against the Aztecs but they would have magic instead of technology. Would warlords of erehwon do it?
Not played erewon but guessing it would especially it’s new America’s supplement … could also check out some of the osprey rules , think Pikemans laments has aztecs and conqusuitors in… could mix it up easily with dragon rampant for magic maybe ?
warlords would work especially with the mythic America addon thing.
Thanks both, I’ll have a look into those.
Nice looking troops.
I dont know if it is just the photos but they look really small. I got some of the British Riflemen recently and while they are very nice models they are on the smaller when you compare them to other Wargames Atlantic sizes. Maybe just me but I like mixing up the different parts to make new models and when the sizes dont match it becomes annoying.
Which ranges specifically? Are you comparing the Rifles to their Sci-fi or other historical ranges? I’m wondering whether the Rifles are 28mm to match ranges like the Perrys, whilst the sci-fi are ‘heroic’ scale to match GW.
The rifles are smaller than the Perrys 95th Rifles and the Victrix ones. It is not massive different but you notice they are smaller, the legs thinner etc. For example I took a stargrave mini for example and the death field arms are too big and the riflemen arms are too small. Size wise they are the same size as the stargrave models 25mm. However you have to note the rifles are wearing shako hats and it is the top of the hat which is level with the stargrave model so they are a hat shorter. Everything is sized that… Read more »
Thanks for the detailed reply. I’d seen a few comparison images against Perry plastics and they didn’t look too far off, but that’s a useful insight.
the rifles match Brigade Games 95th rifles sculpted by Paul Hicks they blend in with most ranges, a little smaller than Front Rank and Victrix but they’re both on the larger size of manufacturers
I really hope they’re not that small, I was hoping to proxy a Cities of Sigmar Warband for Warcry with them.
woop woop!! smashingly versatile kit for 16th century warfare, looking forward to doing some border reiving 😉
Gonna use these for Frostgrave Archipelago.
The Conquistadors look very good and i could see them also find use (without the guns) as a crew for Frostgrave Ghost Archepelago!
It will be interesting to see those ogres too
Awesome looking troops!
Dang my shopping cart is getting heavy to push.
Nicely done! ??
